Necklaces And Tattoos

                               

The hazel eyed girl leads the way in to her humble abode. The sight was quite unsettling for Kathedral. Nikoletta is never one to just give in or take something laying down but nevertheless she follows the older girl inside.

"now Kathedral-" Nikoletta begins

"Kate. Not Kathedral" Kate interrupts

"Okay Kate. I'm Niko. Anyway you are going to need this" Niko hands the younger girl a thin silver chain necklace with a small X with a line going horizontally through it. Niko watches Kate take the necklace examining it with the look of complete confusion and curiosity. Niko gently takes it back putting it around the young Burnett's neck.

"Keep it on always but never let anyone see it. In a few months or maybe a year you will get a tattoo of that symbol on your wrist that will indicate that you are full member of the sisterhood. The necklace means you are in training." Nikoletta explains in hopes of clearing up some confusion. To further her point she shows Kate her sisterhood tattoo.

"So you're like my mentor? I'm going to be a secret agent?" Kate jumps around and giggles like a five-year-old.

"Something like that." Niko says. She glances outside to see the sun peeking out. The older girl reaches into her old slightly miss-kept pantry to grab two old tan sacks. She swings them around a little to remove any dirt or dust. She holds them out for her new protégé to take. Once Kate has them Niko motions to her front door.

"Go to the market and get some groceries I'm running low." Niko says turning her attention to some dirty dishes. "Now" she says when Kate has yet to move. Smiling slightly as she hears Kate trudge away while grumbling insults under her breath. Niko knows this apprenticeship is going to be very amusing as time plays out. Niko has yet to tell her newest member of the family on why she has to join the sisterhood. It runs in blood she could say for generations all females in Niko family by blood or Married in have been a part of the sisterhood. Now it's time to be a teacher and not a student or regular member. Kate is to be Nikoletta's legacy. While similar thought swarm their way around her brain she focuses her body on cleaning up around the house.

Niko wasn't certain on how much time has passed. She could hear people around town busying themselves with chores for the day so she guesses around noon. Niko didn't think much of the fact that Kate had yet returned from the market it only came to her attention when the tattoo on her wrist starts to burn. Only one word is clear and head Kate.
